My Favorite Cinnamon Roll Recipe

My favorite cinnamon roll recipe is adapted from Gimme Delicious.

It does really taste better than Cinnabon. You may want to try it and see for yourself. So again, this recipe is adapted from Gimme Delicious. I use, somehow, different measurements, and I use a different recipe for the icing. This is my favorite recipe of all time. I have been through many recipes and found that this one is actually quicker and simpler to make. It also doesn’t take much time, in about an hour or so, it’s fresh and ready to go. How about we make this introduction short and move right into the recipe?

My All-Time Favorite Cinnamon Roll Recipe

Yields: 12 rolls
Prep Time: 20 mins
Waiting time: 30 mins
Baking Time: 20 mins
Total Time: 1 hr 10 mins

Ingredients:
2 and 3/4 cups all-purpose flour
1/4 cup sugar
1 tsp salt
2 ¼ teaspoon instant yeast (1 packet)
1/2 cup water
1/4 cup milk
2 Tbsp unsalted butter
1 egg

Filling:
4 Tbsp brown sugar
3 Tbsp ground cinnamon
1/3 cup unsalted butter, softened

Cream Cheese Icing:
1/3 cup unsalted butter, softened
1/2 tsp vanilla extract
1¼ cup powdered sugar
1/4 cup cream cheese, preferably Philadelphia
1/8 tsp salt

Directions:

  1. Before you start, put aside 1/3 cup butter (for the filling) to soften, as well as another 1/3 cup butter (for the icing) to soften.
  2. In a large bowl, whisk together the flour, sugar, salt and yeast.
  3. In a microwave safe bowl, heat the water, milk and butter together for about 45 seconds, or until the butter melts. Then wait for it to cool a bit.
  4. Now pour it over the flour mix.
  5. Add the egg to the mixture, and knead with hand or a stand mixer for about 3-4 mins. If you find it still sticky, add a bit more flour.
  6. In a well-greased bowl, let the dough rest for 10 mins.
  7. Preheat the oven on the lowest temperature, about 200°F.
  8. Prepare the filling by mixing the brown sugar and the ground cinnamon. It is best to do it with your hand.
  9. Sprinkle a clean surface with flour to roll the dough onto.
  10. Roll the dough into a 16 x 12 inch rectangle.
  11. Spread the softened butter evenly on the dough.
  12. sprinkle the cinnamon and brown sugar all over the top.
  13. Roll up the dough tightly, and cut it into 12 rolls (1 1/2 inch each). I advise you to use a floss for the cutting, instead of a knife.
  14. Place the rolls in a lightly greased pan, and cover the pan with aluminum foil. Keep space between them because they will rise.
  15. TURN OFF THE OVEN.
  16. Place the pan into the oven. Set a timer for 20 mins.
  17. REMOVE THE FOIL and turn the oven to 375°F (190°C) for 15-20 minutes or until golden. Cooking time may vary.
  18. Make the icing by mixing its ingredients together, beat well with an electric mixer until smooth and fluffy. Drizzle over warm rolls.
Before they go into the oven to rise

Enjoy!
